Corrections and Retractions Policy

The International Journal of Information System and Innovative Technology (IJISIT) is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of the scholarly record. When errors, ethical concerns, or research misconduct are identified after publication, IJISIT will take appropriate action in accordance with recognized principles of publication ethics and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Corrections

A correction may be issued when an error or omission is identified in a published article that affects the accuracy, interpretation, or understanding of the article but does not invalidate its overall findings.

Corrections may address, among other matters:

errors in data, tables, figures, or text;
incorrect or incomplete author information;
incorrect affiliations;
errors in acknowledgments or funding information;
incorrect references or other significant bibliographic information; or
other errors that materially affect the published record.

The correction notice will clearly identify the original article, describe the correction, and be linked to the original publication whenever technically possible.

Minor typographical or formatting errors that do not affect the scientific meaning or integrity of the article may be corrected without a formal correction notice at the discretion of the Editor.

2. Retractions

IJISIT may retract a published article when there is reliable evidence that its findings or conclusions are seriously unreliable or when a serious violation of research or publication ethics has occurred.

Grounds for retraction may include:

fabrication or falsification of data;
plagiarism;
substantial duplicate or redundant publication;
serious errors that invalidate the main findings;
unethical research;
fraudulent or manipulated peer review;
unauthorized use of data or material;
serious authorship misconduct; or
other significant violations of publication ethics.

Retraction decisions will be made following an appropriate investigation and consideration of the available evidence.

3. Retraction Notice

When an article is retracted, IJISIT will publish a retraction notice that:

clearly identifies the retracted article;
states that the article has been retracted;
explains the reason for the retraction to the extent appropriate;
identifies who is retracting the article where appropriate; and
is linked to the original article.

The original article will normally remain available as part of the scholarly record but will be clearly marked as Retracted.

IJISIT will not normally remove a published article entirely from the journal website solely because it has been retracted.

4. Article Removal

Removal of a published article will be considered only in exceptional circumstances, such as when continued availability may:

violate legal rights;
breach a court order;
create a serious privacy or confidentiality risk; or
cause a significant and immediate risk of harm.

When removal is necessary, the article's bibliographic information should be retained whenever legally and technically possible, together with an appropriate notice explaining why the content has been removed.

5. Expressions of Concern

The Editor may issue an Expression of Concern when serious concerns have been raised regarding a published article but the available evidence is inconclusive or an investigation has not yet been completed.

An Expression of Concern may be considered when:

there is credible evidence of possible research or publication misconduct;
an investigation is ongoing;
the results of an institutional investigation are unavailable or inconclusive; or
a definitive editorial decision cannot yet be made.

The notice will be linked to the article whenever technically possible.

6. Author-Initiated Corrections

Authors who identify a significant error in their published work should promptly contact the IJISIT Editorial Office.

The request should clearly describe:

the error;
its impact on the article; and
the proposed correction.

The Editor will assess whether a formal correction, retraction, or other action is appropriate.

7. Third-Party Concerns

Readers, reviewers, institutions, or other parties may report concerns regarding published articles to the Editorial Office.

Reports should provide sufficient information and supporting evidence to allow the journal to evaluate the concern.

IJISIT will consider credible allegations fairly and confidentially and may request additional information from authors, institutions, or other relevant parties where necessary.

8. Investigation and Editorial Decision

IJISIT will assess post-publication concerns fairly and objectively.

Where appropriate, authors will be given an opportunity to respond to allegations or provide relevant clarification and supporting documentation.

The final editorial action will depend on:

the nature and seriousness of the issue;
available evidence;
responses from the authors or relevant parties;
the effect of the issue on the reliability of the published work; and
applicable publication ethics guidance.

Where appropriate, IJISIT may refer to relevant COPE guidelines and flowcharts when handling corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, and allegations of publication misconduct.

9. Preservation of the Scholarly Record

IJISIT aims to preserve the scholarly record transparently.

Corrections, retractions, expressions of concern, and other post-publication notices should be clearly linked to the affected article whenever technically possible.

Changes that materially affect the scholarly content of a published article should not be made silently.
